Radiocassette c’est le retour à l’esprit alternatif, sans esprit de chapelle, quand punks et rastaquouères côtoyaient les derniers mohicans du ska…et les premiers rappeurs ! Le groupe a été fondé en 2008 par Montel, tchatcheur polyglotte, et Cityzen F, multi-instrumentiste sorcier du home-studio. Après des années de samples et de grooves électroniques, tous deux ont décidé de revenir à une formation rock, pour mieux faire parler la poudre…
Montel et Cityzen F ont fait leurs débuts en 1999, au sein du combo electrodub Node/Metropolis (un maxi vinyle pour le label indépendant MJVA, un titre sur la compilation ‘Arôme’ du Barbara Bui Café). Après la séparation du groupe, Montel a choisi la voie du solo, enregistrant le LP ‘Dans mes rêves’ pour le label grenoblois Discordian Records, et signant également un titre sur la BO des Poupées Russes de Cédric Klapisch, grâce à la complicité de Loik Dury. De son côté, Cityzen F co-réalisait l’album ‘Puce de Luxe’ pour Sébastien Roch, qu’il accompagnait également sur scène, en plus de produire de la musique à l’image (campagnes pub, génériques TV, etc).
Rejoints par Fred Quéré à la batterie et Ben Renard aux claviers, les deux compères sont passés à la vitesse supérieure pour emmener le projet sur scène. Et d’autant plus que leur clip fait maison a séduit l’équipe de Taratata ! Premier mini-album en préparation, après un efficace buzz grâce au lipdub Leroy Merlin… alors sortez les ghettoblasters, Radiocassette se consomme sans modération !

Radiocassette is a French band founded by Montel, multilingual singer, and CityzenF, multi-instrumentalist and home studio wizard. After years of sampling and electronic grooves, they decided to go back to their roots: rock, reggae, ska and old school rap, a throwback to a time when punks, rastas and rappers could share a stage without a second thought!
Montel and Cityzen F started out together in 1999, founding electrodub combo Node/Metropolis (with third member Daahood), recording a vinyl 12” for independent label MJVA and landing a song on the ‘Arôme’ compilation for the Barbara Bui Café. After the band split, Montel opted to go solo with the ‘Dans mes rêves’ LP (Discordian Records), with one song being featured on the score to the Russian Dolls movie, a big hit in the French box office. As for Cityzen F, he worked mostly with singer/actor Sebastien Roch, producing and cowriting his ‘Puce de Luxe’ LP and also touring with him. On the side, he also recorded commercial music for ad campaigns and TV (Parfums Boucheron, Caprice des Dieux, France 5, France 4, NRJ12 etc).
In 2008, the two mates started a new collaboration on a strictly for fun basis, but it soon took on a life its own when Radiocassette was invited to Taratata, the biggest music show on french TV ! … First album is on the way, so bring out the ghettoblasters, Radiocassette is about to blast away!
